Upper Hunter Shire Council has a new mayor, with Michael Johnsen replacing Lee Watts in the top job.
Johnsen, a National party member, was voted in by councillors after receiving less primary votes than Mrs Watts.
While in Lake Macquarie Jodie Harrison has taken on the role as the area’s first female mayor, heading her first council meeting last night.
