Rising sea levels will cause thousands of Gold Coast homes to be swallowed up by the sea, according to a new report from the Climate Commission.
The coast, which already floods easily during king tides, has been singled out as one of the most at risk areas.
Around 4000 homes would flood due to rising sea levels, by the next century.
“With a 110 cm sea level rise in combination with some coastal flooding and storm surge there will be several thousand residential and commercial buildings at risk and that’s billions of dollars worth of investment.”
