A man who managed to escape a car crash, was then hit and killed by a van on the Pacific Highway near Karuah this morning.
Emergency crews attended the scene after a white sedan left the road and rolled at around 5am this morning.
The male driver, thought to be in his 20s, escaped the crash but was hit by a southbound van while chasing his dog across the road.
He died at the scene.
A female driver was also taken to hospital after her car hit another vehicle that had stopped to offer assistance.
Traffic on the Pacific Highway is now flowing freely in both directions.
