WEATHER UPDATE: SEVERE WEATHER WARNING FOR HUNTER

On Monday night a powerful front slammed into Perth in WA causing storms while blacking out almost 10,000 homes.

That strong front has been making it’s way across the country during Tuesday.

On Wednesday it is going to create a strong pressure gradient in the east.

This will generate very gusty NW winds. So much so that a severe weather warning has been issued for the Great Hunter region for damaging winds. If this was the height of summer it would probably be classed as a catastrophic fire warning day.

The strong, dry, very warm winds with this set up like to funnel down the Valley, we call it a venturi. The increased winds will also affect the NW, Slopes and Tablelands. In fact most properties on the western side of slopes and mountains will be exposed.

Cooler air will come through later in the week but it is going to remain a dry. Almost dead flat on the coast for surfers.
