A gas main has burst into flames in a residential street in Cessnock this afternoon.
Workers were at the gas main near Koree Street at around 3pm when it caught alight.
There have been blackouts in the area and residents have been asked not to return to homes in the immediate vicinity.
Ausgrid has tweeted that power has been cut to 300 homes because of fire near a powerline.
Emergency crews are currently on the scene.
