SAD END FOR BEACHED WHALE

A 10 metre humpback whale which beached itself on Sandon Beach at Minnie Water on Wednesday sadly didn’t survive the ordeal.

Despite the best efforts of National Parks and Wildlife staff to save the creature, it had to be euthenised last night.

The whale, which was around four years old, was in a distressed state and wasn’t in a condition that would allow it to recover.

The humpback had no visible injuries and parks and wildlife staff say they don’t know why it came ashore.

It was buried in nearby sand dunes.
