WORK BEGINS ON DAMAGED LIGHT RAIL TRACK

To other news now and repair work has begun on a section of Newcastle’s light rail track, just a year after the service opened to the public.

Several cracks were found at the Interchange, Worth Place, Merewether Street and the Civic light rail stops.

Work includes replacing damaged rail, plus improvements to drainage and overhead charging stations.

Regular services will not run until next Monday, with buses to transport passengers in the meantime.
