Maitland is back in the winner’s circle in Newcastle rugby league, beating Lakes by 10 today, while Macquarie proved it’s a premiership threat, edging out Kurri.
The home town Scorpions grabbed the lead when Simon Allen left several Bulldogs in his wake.
Kurri hit back when George Ndaira produced a pinpoint kick to set up Shannon Tanner.
But it was Macquarie who would have the last laugh, Allen unleashed a dangerous bomb, before picking up the scraps to score again.
