NEW JURY IN JOHN GARDA MURDER TRIAL

There’s been a delay in the murder trial of Byron Bay businessman John Jack Garda today, after a new jury had to be sworn in at Lismore Supreme Court.

40 year old Kevin Purtill is accused of killing Mr Garda at his Lennox Head home over a bungled drug deal in February 2010.

His brother Warren was sentenced to four years jail on Monday for being an accessory after the fact to murder.

The 48 year old pleaded guilty to helping dispose of Mr Garda’s body in a shallow grave in Broadwater and later cleaning up the murder scene.

Warren Purtill will be eligible for parole May next year.
