An underground car park and restricted recreational space are just some of the concerns associated with the move.

  1. OMG Chris Holestiein yes our classrooms maybe too and small yes a new library would be great but all these things would have to be built if we moved to an alternate location aswell, stop saying as if u r doing us a favour by cramming 2 schools onto one site!!!!!!!!!!!! that is clearly too small!!!!!!!!!!!!! seriously do u think we are stupid?????? its my understanding that for a high school to be built 6 hectares are needed and for a primary 3 are needed ( if i remember rightly this was the problem in begining). Henry Kendall High is 4.65 hectares please correct me if im wrong but 3 + 6 = 9 not 4.64

  2. Mr Holstein needs to move on with the times. The school community is not disputing that the school needs to move. The school community wants larger classrooms but if our classrooms can be as per regulations why can’t the land area be as per guidelines and regulations?
Mr Holstein has repeated the same speach countles times now, including during parliamentry debate in response to the 10500 signature petition. This is not about the current school Mr Holstein, it’s about inappropriate site for the relocation. There is not enough room for GPS and HKHS to be placed together. Yes the new school will have big classrooms (with no airconditioning). There is one block of toilets that is supposed to be used by 570 students. Kindergarden and Yr 6 using the same toilet is inappropriate. No room for a COLA, constant noise disruption, no room to play, underground carpark, oh what a great new school it will be!

  3. Chris Holstein needs to explain the extent of his review at a local level when the O’Farrell government reviewed the orginal decision . He needs to detail the meetings he had with the school community . He needs to detail the meetings he held with Gosford Councillors given that he claimed to consult Council during the review . He needs to explain why he supports 1400 gosford children should go to school on a site that is 55% smaller than the stipulated DEC guidelines .

Chris Holstein needs to demonstrate the public consulatation process he engaged the community in . Given that he did not advertise or call for general submissions in any of the local media , he needs to explain the process he used . Given that he is now faced with 10500 Central Coast petitioners telling him and his government that they are wrong , will Chris Holstein listen to the electorate or try to tough this one out .

  4. Shame ,Mr Holstein, it IS disgusting that GPS has a 20 yr old demountable library. Capital works funding has been cut for GPS for the past 13 yrs so nothing has been able to be done about it. In that time you have been a local councillor, mayor as well as a local member. Yet despite your considerable influence you allowed this situation to continue. The move to HKHS has already resulted in the high school having to move into demountables for initial construction so your comments on demountables are coontradictory as well as misleading.

  5. I feel for the Henry Kendall High School kids. All the loss of open space for them. They now have very little open space except on that oval with no shade. Loss of classrooms, loss of exclusive areas for seniors and Year 7. A substaintial loss of shade with 68 mature trees being removed. How are the HSC students meant to concentrate during the HSC year while primary school students are making noise in the playground outside. How are they even going to get though their exams with that type of noise in the background. It is absolutely atrocious.

  6. Chris Holstein claims to have a report which considers alternative sites for Gosford Public. Where is this report and why isn’t it public? If he is so concerned about the standard sizes of classrooms, why isn’t he concerned that the proposed site for the Public school is well under the standard size recommended by the DEC, and Henry Kendall, which is already only 66% of the standard size for a high school, will be even more cramped. And this shoddy, do what ever it takes attitude of the state governments past and present continues to the DA. Half the building and fire code requirements do not comply with the relevant codes, there has been a completely inadequate assessment of the site once elevated lead levels were found, there is no plan for monitoring the refurbishment of rooms with asbestos and no requirement that work on them be done out of term time, and the bush fire assessment was done on the existing school layout, not the new plans. The DEC and state government only want to move Gosford Public and they don’t care how it is done.

  7. Chris Holstein has accepted a K-12 school site that is 55% less than the departments guidelines indicate as the general standard . Darren Webber spoke in support of this . Darren Webber has Wadalba K-12 in his electorate on 8 hectares . With DEC indicating they have no plans to build anymore high schools in Wyong shire for at least a decade and despite all the new subdivisions we can only assume on the Gosford Public School model that Mr Webber is comfortable with probably another 1000 -1500 students being put on the Wadalba School site .

Bit of a worry all round .
