In a new developement in the 1980 toxic chemical spill on the Pacific Highway near Port Port Macquarie a former policeman who helped clean up the site and bury chemicals says he kept a sample of toxic material.
Bob Deardes, who says he has suffered ill health since being exposed to the toxic substances, says he is prepared to make the material available for testing.
Radioactive material and DDT were spilled in the crash which claimed the life of a motorist.
Seven men working on the Pacific Highway upgrade were overcome by toxic fumes two weeks ago.
The buried material has yet to be located.
