MAN CHARGED OVER MURDERING POLICE OFFICER

A man has been charged with the murder of Senior Constable David Rixon in Tamworth earlier this month.

Senior Constable Rixon died after suffering gunshot wounds on March 2.

Police will allege 48-year-old Micahel Alan Joacbs shot Constable Rixon after an attempt to submit Jacobs to a random breath test. 

Jacobs was also shot and has been under police guard for the last few weeks.
