There’s been a breakthrough today in a case that terrified the Gold Coast community.
More than three years ago, a young woman on a night-time jog in Merrimac, reported she’d been attacked and raped by a man near a well-lit and busy road.
A 34-year-old man has been arrested in regional Victoria over the 2010 incident.
He faced Geelong Magistrates Court today on one count of rape, and was remanded in custody.
It’s expected the accused will be extradited to the Gold Coast tomorrow.
