Domestic violence survivor, Donna Carson, will share her harrowing story at an International Women’s Day event at Port Macquarie later this week.
The former Australian of the Year Local Hero will speak at the Hastings Heroines function to help raise money for the women’s and children’s refuge.
Ms Carson’s life changed forever when she was doused in petrol and set alight by her ex-defacto, resulting in horrific burns to 65 per cent of her body.
As well as her amazing tale of courage and determination, other stories of inspirational local women will be shared on Thursday night.
Hastings Heroines is being organised by the Hastings Business Womens Network.
