BUS DRIVER FLOWN TO HOSPITAL

A 77-year-old bus driver has been flown to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital after his bus left the road and crashed into a power pole at Port Stephens this morning.

Emergency services suspect the driver may have suffered a heart attack before crashing the bus, near the intersection of Nelson Bay Road and Port Stephens Drive. He was revived at the scene and flown to the John Hunter Hospital by the Westpac Rescue helicopter.

There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the crash.
