LISMORE COUNCIL OBJECTS TO OPTUS PHONE TOWER

Lismore City Council will write to telecommunications giant, Optus, on behalf of some Clunes residents who are concerned over the location of a new mobile phone tower.

They fear it could impact on their health, and will also create an eyesore.

The 40-metre tower is planned to be built off Bangalow Road, just south of the speed camera.

“councils concern is first the lack of community consultation, we believe there is a community concern about the emissions and what that might do to people’s health”

Optus says it is currently consulting with community as part of the development process.

  1. My concern is that the wireless revolution is going through its “industrial revolution” stage – commissioning an arming of mobile phone towers to become the factory/dinosaurs of the future. Surely, having cost a fortune, ruined the landscape and doused the animal (including homo sapiens, bee and other insect) populations and plant life with their lethal microwaves for a few years) these will be replaced by healthier and more reliable satellites?
