SAD LOSS IN THE LEGAL FRATERNITY

Tributes are flowing for well known Newcastle District Court Judge, Ralph Coolahan, who died earlier today from a medical condition.
Judge Coolahan spent his entire working life in Newcastle, presiding over many of the region’s high profile criminal cases.
He’s been described by the legal fraternity as a well respected, fair and compassionate judge, who worked hard to balance justice with mercy.
Judge Coolahan was 62.

  1. Ralph was a fine yachtsman and a brilliant racing navigator who got us to our destinations despite difficulties such as battery failure in rough seas. Ralph was often the first to go below and bring up much needed liquid refreshments, that is what was left over after our fine cook had first go. Ralph was highly sought after to join a crew as navigator and he shall be much missed by the yachting fraternity.
