NO RECOVERY ASSISTANCE FOR UPPER COOPERS CREEK RESIDENTS
The Federal Government has knocked back an application by the residents of Upper Coopers Creek for disaster recovery assistance following January’s wild storms.
Around 120 residents were isolated in February when a landslide cut road access.
The Attorney General’s Office refused the application on the grounds that the overall impact wasn’t severe enough to classify the area as a major disaster zone.
The Disaster Recovery Payment would have allowed residents to claim assistance of up to $1000 per person.
