A THOUSAND MARCH AROUND LISMORE AGAINST COAL SEAM GAS

Around 1,000 people marched through the streets of Lismore this morning protesting against Coal Seam Gas mining in the region.

The rally snaked from Spinx Park to Keen street, overtaking most of the CBD.

Protestors called for a sustainable and renewable energy future, and a complete halt to the CSG industry.

“No coal seam gas.”
“It’s to do with our water, scientific evidence is there, eventually it will contaminate our aquifers.”

The protest is part of a weekend of action, with rallies set to be held in Byron Bay, Kyogle, Ilkua and Nimbin tomorrow.
