SAILABILITY SETS SAIL

Sailability Gosford is dusting off it’s old dinghies in an attempt to provide people with disabilities the chance to get out on the water.

The initiative which was the first of its kind in the state, hasn’t run for half a decade, but thanks to volunteers from Gosford Sailing Club, it’s now back up and running.

  1. Hello
I do have some feedback and an offer. Thrilled that Sailability has been resurrected and can offer people with disabilities an opportunity to engage in the fun that sailing provides. Came down on the launch day see what was happening and to offer my help. It turned out to be a less than welcoming experience, I understood that it was probably not the best time to choose as a first contact. Everyone was pre-occupied with the tasks in hand, and not delegating, I felt in the way, and left, doubtful that I would come back. So necessary with volunteers that they feel welcome right from the start, so that it is fun. Often the organisers are the ones whose task it is to do the “people” things, which is often not their forte. I would be happy to offer as a volunteer to do the “people contact”, making the volunteering experience a pleasurable one. I would be so disappointed to see this effort fail again due to lack to volunteers. If you think this is a good idea and would like to discuss, I can be contacted on 0401 385 134. Vivienne
