DPI WARNS OF PARTHENIUM OUTBREAK

North-west producers are being urged to keep an eye out for Parthenium, after the weed was recently discovered on chicken farms near Tamworth.

The infestation is being traced to Queensland grain manufacturers, who’ve transported feed interstate.

Parthenium is known to spread rapidly and can cause harm to grazing animals and crops.

The Department of Primary Industries is warning any producers who’ve fed poultry with organic grain to be particularly weary.
