COFFS RUGBY UNION MINOR PREMIERS

In mid north coast rugby union, Coffs Harbour has taken out the northerm competition minor premiership after beating the Port Pirates in a wet weather catchup game on the weekend.

The result means that Coffs Harbour will host the Pirates in Saturday’s major semi final, while the Hastings Valley Vikings will do battle in Sundays sudden death game against the Kempsey Cannonballs.

While optimistic about their chances of remaining in the finals series, Coffs is expecting an intense encounter.

“We’re quite confident, Port Macquarie are always really tough and they had a couple of key players out so we’re expecting them to play pretty strong” President of the Coffs Harbour Rugby Union Club, Richard Officer said.

The winner of saturday’s major semi will progress to the Grand final, with the loser to get a second chance in the final.
