Qantas long-haul pilots will take their first industrial action in 45 years from Friday.

Pilots want a new clause in their contracts to stop Qantas from potentially outsourcing to cheaper bases in Asia.

The Joint Regional Planning Panel has approved the Tuncurry Woolworths development.

The decision means Great Lakes Council can now go ahead with its plan to build the supermarket complex at the corner of Peel and Kent Streets.

The sudden demolition of Wingham Stables has outraged some local community members who had been campaigning to save the historic structure.
