In Newcastle rugby league the Rosellas, Maitland and Wyong scored wins, while the Scorpions beat the Seagulls.
Lakes and Macquarie could barely be separated in the first half, Randall Briggs bringing the Scorpions level.
Jarrod Edwards was proving a handful out wide and he gave the visitors the lead.
Then a bizzare moment handed Ali Taufaao (tah-fow) a double, as the Scorpions made a mess of a kick off and Lakes took full advantage.
