Police are appealing for information after a Lismore family’s dog was brutally killed in their backyard.
The fox terrier was found decapitated early this morning.
Officers initially thought the animal had been attacked by another dog, until a veterinary report concluded otherwise.
“It’s a 10 out of 10 in regards to animal cruelty, it just doesn’t get anymore cruel. Killing and decapitating a family pet is a pretty low act.”
Police say animal cruelty will not be tolerated.
The dog was the beloved pet of two young children.
“They’re very upset at the moment which is understandable and It’s just going to take time for them to get over it.”
Police are urging anyone with any information to contact Crimestoppers.

Very heartbreaking to hear yet another story about the cruel and intentional murder of another one of Gods beautiful creations. I feel for the family, especially the children, as, I’m sure, they loved her with all their heart.
I am of the belief that all Gods creatures, great and small, including ourselves, are created equally in Gods eyes. All creatures are born to live and experience this wonderous world in absolute freedom, without being caged or fenced in. They exist as nature has intended. All animals love and nurture their young. They require food and water to survive. They feel all the feelings humans do, happiness, love, sadness, loneliness, jealousy, anger, pain, grief… They feel physical pain because they have a nervous system just like us. When I hear of the torture of animals it brings a river of tears to my eyes. If all creatures are equal in Gods eyes, why do we feel the need to place animals below us. Why do most of us become involved and support the intentional murder of certain animals. They need as much love as we do. Let’s show that we are loving and compassionate friends to all that dwell on this magnificant earth.
