COUNCIL TO VOTE ON FIGS FUTURE AGAIN

Six months after resolving to keep the Laman Street figs, Newcastle Council will again consider a motion to remove them.

It’s Urban Planning Committee has recommended council re-visit the Civic and Cultural Masterplan, which relies on the removal of the figs.

It’s also recommended the closure of Laman Street from August 31.

Save Our Figs will recommence nightly vigils from tomorrow.
