An elderly man has narrowly escaped a fire that tore through his Long Jetty unit this morning.
A worker from the nearby Charcoal Chicken store raced in to help guide the 86-year-old to safety.
The unit was fully alight when emergency services arrived shortly after 10 o’clock.
Firefighters worked quickly to stop the blaze from spreading to the two downstairs units.
The man was treated for smoke inhalation – it’s believed the fire started in the kitchen.
