FROMELLES DIGGER A CASINO MAN

A Casino man has been identified as one of the 250 Australian and British soldiers who died at the Battle of Fromelles in World War One.

Private Leslie Gordon Walsh enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force in 1915.

He was killed on one of the worst days in Australia’s military history.

His remains were uncovered from Pheasant Wood in France two years ago, but has only just been identified along with another 13 men.

100 Australian soldiers remain unnamed.
