POLICE ALLEGE DRIVER HAD MARIJUANA IN HER SYSTEM, DURING FATAL COLLISION

Police allege a 42-year-old woman had marijuana in her system, when the vehicle she was driving hit and killed two nurses at Edgeworth almost five months ago.

The women were saying goodbye to each other when the van ploughed into them.

The 42-year-old has now been charged with 12 offences, including two counts of manslaughter.

Meanwhile, a 32-year-old P-plate driver has been charged over the death of two tourists last November.

The Whitebridge man was driving a Holden Commodore along John Renshaw Drive and collided with a campervan.

He’s due to face Maitland Local Court in May.
