The Newcastle Port Corporation has strongly denied that it plans to relocate Mayfield East Public School, as part of its plan to develop part of the former BHP Steelworks site.
Greens candidate for Newcastle, John Sutton, called for the Port Corporation to publicly respond to fears the school may be relocated, due to the impact of a container terminal.
Mr Sutton says the fears arose following alleged comments by a Port Corporation executive officer at a recent community consultation session.
