Giving the misery caused by this man to so many innocent people and the mischief he cause to a dedicated Investigations Officer within the Office of State Revenue, the sentence – released within 18 months – is manifestly inadequate.
When will the general public realise that white collar crime is non the less a crime and while there may be no physical evidence of harm, the mental pain and anguish is no less real.
Had this person used a gun to steal the large sum of money he misappropriated he would be behind bars for at least 5 years. Instead, he used his trusted and professional standing to rob home and business buyers and as a result will only serve 18 months.
I can only hope that he and Bubba forge a strong personal relationship during his short jail stay.
