The tiny town of Dungog is one of the worst affected and today the community rallied around its only GP.

  1. Good on you Dungog citizens. This is an outrageous situation for Dungog and the government certainly shouldn’t waste any time backing this little town financially in an effort to gain more doctors as a matter of urgency. The current doctor will not be able to hold those long hours down for too much longer. He also has a life outside of work – but obviously giving most of that to the community.
If more elections can be funded, then they can afford to help this town, which we see as far more important.
Good on the citizens of Dungog and we wish you all the best

  2. I know Dungog well and lived there for a year. It is a delightful little country town with a caring community. A community which looks after its own and which goes out of its way to help and care for each other. The old fashioned ‘look out for your neighbour ‘ sort of place which surely is what we are all looking for.

How could this community suffer the obvious lack of Government funding required to keep the citizens healthy. It has the facilities – the hospital, the old age care and clinic, HOW CAN ONE DOCTOR BE EXPECTED to do attend to all this?

I admire your spirit and efforts in the fund raising. GOOD ON ALL OF YOU. But come on doctors – shake a leg grab an opportunity and government get yourselves together and if funds are needed DO IT NOW.
