KURT FEARNLEY TAKES OUT ANOTHER OZ DAY 10K

Newcastle’s Kurt Fearnley has further confirmed his status as our country’s greatest wheelchair athlete, winning his 7th straight Australia Day 10k in Sydney.

Fearnley was joined at the start by a host of rivals from around the world, but the defending champion soon left them in his wake.

Having set the race record back in 2008, today he settled for a comfortable victory, tearing through two laps of the five kilometre course in 21 minutes and four seconds.

Fearnley will now head to New Zealand to defend his marathon crown at the World Athletics Championships.
