CARNAGE CONTINUES ON COAST HIGHWAY

The state’s road toll rose to ten yesterday after three serious crashes on the Pacific Highway left two people dead and seven others injured.

At 5.30pm a young woman died following a head-on collision on the Pacific Highway at Clybucca.

A Mitsubishi Mirage was travelling north on the highway when it was involved in a collision with a Holden Commodore station wagon which was travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 23-year-old woman from Shepparton in Victoria, died at the scene while an elderly man and woman who were travelling in the Holden sustained chest and abdominal injuries.

They were taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital in serious but stable conditions.
