TRIO SAFE AFTER BOAT RESCUE

Three tourists in their 20s were rescued late yesterday after the blow up boat they were in was swept out to sea at Port Macquarie.

The trio had been fishing in the Hastings River but the small boat got caught in the run-out tide, taking them out past the breakwall.

Port Macquarie’s Marine Rescue reached the boat within minutes and brought the group back to shore.

The three were uninjured, but shaken by their ordeal.

A crowd lined the breakwall, watching the incident unfold and cheering as the rescue vessels came back in.
