The Central Coast’s Adrian “Ace” Buchan has progressed through to the quarter finals of the Pipe Masters.
The goofy footer out-surfed Bede Durbidge by seven points to qualify.
“Yes he freefalls out of the sky there and pulls up, perfectly timed there for Ace. Re-directs his line there pulls up high and comes out clean”
He’ll surf against ten-time world champion Kelly Slater in the quarter finals tomorrow.
Ace is now the only surfer who can overtake triple crown champion Joel Parkinson in the race for the prestigious Hawaiian series title.
But he needs to win this event to make it possible.
