JURY FINDS WOMAN GUILTY OF MANSLAUGHTER
A Supreme Court jury has found a 29-year-old woman guilty of manslaughter, and NOT guilty of murder, over the death of a man at Cessnock last year.
Melanie Quealey stabbed her partner Tony Coleman in the thigh, in the grounds of a Cessnock church hall.
The victim’s mother believes justice has been served.
“I’ve been waiting for this day for months now and it’s over. She’s been found guilty of manslaughter and I will sleep a lot easier at night now.”
After five days of deliberation, the jury reached a majority verdict, with 11 of the 12 in agreement.
