  1. Thanks for reporting on the Repco Rally. I did some filming of the Repco Rally and interviewed both rally supporters and people opposed to the Rally. All but one Rally supporter was unaware that the cars were racing through National Parks and were opposed to that. All the people opposed to the Rally that I talked to had jobs, were doctors, nurses, librarians, families and average community members. I was disappointed when I heard Alan Evans from CAMS call the people opposed to the Rally as a radical minority. I’ve followed the polls and read the review by Mike Cahill and the findings seem to clearly state that people do not approve of racing in National Parks. The majority of the people do not approve of the NSW State Government bypassing the local democratic process and enacting the WRC Act.

If FIA, CAMS, Events NSW and the NSW State Government are sincerely concerned about the communities views, they would find alternative routes than Toonunbar, Mooball National Parks and the Byrill Creek leg of the Rally. They would also meet with the different groups to discuss how to make it work. I read in the Echo how 7th Generation has requested meeting with CAMS and are still waiting for a response.

By forcing this event on communities that are not consulted appropriately and racing through areas set aside to protect endangered animals is a recipe for division within the community. People are slinging mud at each other and it’s really a study in how economic benefits for major players is more important than the community members. More important that endangered flora and fauna. More important that 12 Environmental Laws.

I respect those that have taken the time to voice their democratic rights and their care for the environment. More people need to do this so that we can ensure we have a planet to leave the people who come after us.
