TWO RESCUES AT MT WARNING IN A DAY

The Westpac rescue chopper had a busy weekend, rescuing two people in one day from Mount Warning.

A 53-year-old woman suffered head and spinal injuries after falling from the chains at the top of Mount Warning, just before 10 30am on Saturday.

Low cloud and bad weather meant the woman had to be carried to a clearing before being winched to safety.

She was taken to Tweed Heads Hospital in a stable condition.

The helicopter then had to winch a 23-year-old Gold Coast woman from the mountain after she suffered a suspected fractured ankle.

She was also transported her to Tweed Heads Hospital.
