LUCKY ESCAPE IN TRAIN COLLISION

Two young men had a lucky escape yesterday when they attempted to drive home along a railway track at Coramba, west of Coffs Harbour.

The men were forced to leap for their lives when they encountered a north bound goods train.

Their Toyota Hi-Lux utility was left a mangled mess on the edge of the track.

The locomotive of the goods train suffered damage as well, losing its engine oil.

No one was injured in the collision, which caused extensive delays to freight and passenger services.

” I think it was either the mother or father of the people who were in the car had told the driver that nobody was hurt which was a good thing.”
