NEW SURF CLUBS FOR SOLDIERS AND SHELLEY BEACHES

There was some good news for our heroes in red and yellow today.

The Minister for Infrastructure, Anthony Albanese, has confirmed Soldiers and Shelley Beach surf clubs will receive $5-million in Federal funding to upgrade facilities.

With the contract now signed, tenders have been called.

“We know that these surf clubs provide a great service for the local community and for all who visit the central Coast and we know that this upgrade is needed. These are run down facilities”, Mr Albanese said.

The project is expected to create 50 jobs during construction, as well as ten long term positions.

“Look surf lifesaving is a great vocation and people put in their own time, give up weekends to look after the community. The least that can be expected is that the community puts back in”, he added.

Surf Life Saving’s Chad Griffith was thrilled with the news.

“A great outcome for the Central Coast and all of the surf lifesavers and it’s going to secure us in the future”.
