13 of Wauchope’s beloved fig trees will be getting the chop, following legal action against Port Macquarie Hastings Council.
Council says it will have to pay millions in compensation unless the trees between Young and Bain streets are removed.
The tree roots have caused extensive damage to paths, roads and properties.
Established brush box trees will be planted in their place.
