SPEED CAMERAS SWITCHED OFF

The New South Wales Auditor General has ruled that dozens of speed cameras across the state are not saving lives or reducing crashes and the RTA is now pulling the plug.
Of the 38 cameras blacklisted, half are from northern New South Wales.
They include four each on the far north and mid north coasts, including five located on the notorious Pacific Highway.
The Central Coast has five of the cameras, many of them on key access roads…
While five on the New England Highway were also named, three of them situated in the state’s north west, two in the Hunter.
And the number of suburban speed cameras in the Lower Hunter could be cut by a third, with the one on Newcastle Road at Lambton failing to measure up.

  1. I got caught speeding on my way home to Mailtand by the hexham speed camera on 26/7/2011 and was curious as to whether this camera is blacklisted? I was unaware that that camera was still present as since the new traffic lights were put in this spot was no longer said to be a black spot! I need my licence for work and am on my p’s.
