COAL TRAIN DRIVERS WALK OFF THE JOB

Hundreds of Pacific National coal train drivers walked off the job statewide today, over failed pay negotiations.

Union members want more than an offered three per cent salary raise each year over three years.

The 48-hour strike is set to stop around 600,000 tonnes of coal worth $50-million from reaching the Port of Newcastle.

“This has been a last resort for the union and our members and we have no other choice but to do this because the company has failed over 13 months to negotiate a fair and reasonable outcome.” said Bob Nanva National Secretary of the Rail, Tram and Bus Union.

  1. How about getting the truth out the about Pacific National! PN put their EA to a vote which 85% of employees said NO! Since then they’re position has been ‘Well if you don’t take that we’ll just offer less’ basically. How is that negotiating??? They haven’t “negotiated” anything it’s been take it or you’ll get less. Another thing is employees are on a salary of 65,000 NOT 100,000! To get 100,000 you’d have to work a hell of a lot of overtime to make that. All the press is about Pacific National slamming the union, conveniently leaving out the fact that its the employees that aren’t happy, and they voted to go on strike cause there fed up with the companies arrogance and bullying tactics! How about getting some of this info into the news so everyone knows!

  2. I will ask again what was the first offer ( 4% ) and what was quoted above ( 3 % ). No train Driver earns 65K. A trainee in his first year earning were 90K . What about the bullying by calling people scabs when all they are doing is trying to pay off the house or sorry thats ok .

Yes the employee are upset. let Fair Work Aus settle it !

The Union has ben nothing but truthful all during this process ? The media are doing what they get paid to do.

  3. “Trainee in their first year earning 90k” This line alone shows you don’t know what your talking about

  4. And when you say you work there you mean you work in management right? Therefore, you’re completely against the union?
