A 22-metre timber sailing boat, being built at Urunga, has moved a step closer to completion with the installation of a giant mast this morning.
The unique Pacific Proa is built from plantation timber and its owner, Dutch boat builder Ini Wijen, claims it is Australia’s greenest boat.
The boat’s engine runs on vegetable oil, while electricity is generated by solar cells.
Gaia’s Dream can carry six tonnes of cargo and 12 passengers.
The boat will be moved to Coffs Harbour later this week for the final stage of construction.
