Mid-north-coast residents suffering hardship because of the flooding may be eligible for special Centrelink benefits, of up to $1000 for adults and $400 for children.
The emergency assistance, to be provided by the federal government, follows widespread flooding in Coffs Habour, Bellingen, Nambucca and Kempsey.
