RELUCTANT MILLIONAIRES

A Newcastle man waited six months to claim his $2 million Lotto prize because he says he wasn’t mentally prepared to become a millionaire.

Lotto representatives were surprised when the 48-year-old, father of four, who runs his own small business, came forward with his winning ticket from the January draw.

He’d bought his ticket at the Lake Haven Newsagency at Gorokan and said his wife had visited a clairvoyant who predicted the family would come into a lot of money.

And a Branxton retiree wasn’t in any rush to claim his million-dollar win from Wednesday’s Lotto draw, because he didn’t think his numbers had come up.

When contacted by officials he had to be convinced it wasn’t a hoax.

The 66-year-old says he can relax now as he’d lost a lot of money in the financial crisis.
