The Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, will tour Port Macquarie Base Hospital when he visits the region later this month.
The PM’s pledge follows questions in federal parliament from the Member for Lyne, Robert Oakeshott, who wants Mr Rudd to witness the pressure on the facility from a growing and ageing population.
Mr Oakeshott has welcomed the visit, saying it will provide an opportunity to highlight the need for capital investment in the hospital, particularly in the emergency and intensive care departments.
Mr Rudd will visit Port Macquarie on the 25th of this month for a community cabinet meeting.
