BORE WATER SYSTEM COMPLETE
Tamworth Council is expecting to save $69,000 a year in water charges now that a new bore system at the Plain Street playing fields is operational.
Located next to the Peel River, it will also save 40 megalitres of town water over a 12 month period, the equivalent of 120 households.
“We have a licensed allocation, and that allocation is quite high. So the estimate is, it’ll probably never run dry here, and this will be able to be kept going 100 per cent on groundwater into the future.”
The council expects the $160,000 system to pay for itself within four years.
