HOUSE FIRE INJURES COFFS HARBOUR MAN

A Coffs Harbour man was admitted to hospital suffering smoke inhalation and burns to his hands after fire broke out in the kitchen of his Argyle Street home, at around one o’clock this afternoon.

Emergency services say he was attempting to fry fish when the cooking oil ignited and set fire to cupboards and the ceiling before spreading into the roof cavity.

Two units from the Coffs Harbour Fire Brigades attended and firefighters had to cut their way into the roof space, to extinguish the blaze.

The injured man has since been discharged from hospital.
